Henry the Goat Rescued from Live Export Route
Henry escaped when he was being transported for live export. He was found on the streets by the RSPCA who contacted us to come get him and his friends. While it is not often talked about, goats are the third largest live export market out of Australia.
Henry has had some health problems and is now carefully cared for at sanctuary. He likes to spend his days leisurely wandering, mostly on his own, and then come home (with a bit of coaxing from the carers) to his special bedroom with Ethel, the elderly sheep.
Goat Rescued from Live Export lives Life at Sanctuary
Henry isn't a great fan of people, but he enjoys the company of goats and competes regularly with Oliver to be the leader. Despite being big, strong, and a little mean-looking he has never once been aggressive to a person at the farm and simply enjoys most of the time just being on his own.
After enjoying 11 fulfilling years at Farm Animal Rescue and showing the many visitors that met him how much his life mattered to him, Henry's health began to decline due to age-related illnesses. Unfortunately, he succumbed to kidney failure on June 26, 2023.
