Meet Volunteer Nurite who revels in the fulfilling and invigorating work of volunteering for Farm Animal Rescue.
"The care and love that FAR provides all the animals reminds me there is good in the world ????" Nurite
As at November 2021, I have been working with FAR now for 4 ½ months.
What’s your ‘why’?
I decided to volunteer for a few reasons – firstly, animals bring me joy and I needed some joy in my life. I also wanted to contribute to something meaningful. And secondly, animals need people who care in order to protect them from people who don’t!
I obviously love being around all the animals, but I also really enjoy being outdoors and doing all the farm work. It’s invigorating and fulfilling. The work isn’t hard but they are long days and I get home quite late.
Let’s talk favourites…
Koa is probably my favourite resident because she’s just so cute and friendly. But there are so many loveable animals at FAR. Neville the rooster is always up for a cuddle and Candi the goat is so naughty but so sweet!
Surprise us…
What’s funny about all this is that I’m totally allergic to everything outdoors, so I have to take all sorts of allergy medication before I set out for the sanctuary!
I work in criminal justice so I spend my days around the worst of society, but the care and love FAR provides all the animals reminds me there is good in the world.
