This month we spotlight Farm Animal Rescue volunteer Jayda. She has answered a series of questions about her life and time as a volunteer at the sanctuary.
How long have you been working with FAR?
I have been with FAR for almost six months.
What made you start to volunteer initially?
I started volunteering to gain more experience working in the animal industry.
What do you love best about your work?
I love seeing the excitement on the animals when we open the gates in the morning and let them roam free. It makes me happy knowing I’ve helped make the animals happier.
What do you find hard about your work?
It’s hard waking up early to start at sunrise (it takes me 45 min to get to FAR so I wake up extra early).
Who is your favourite resident?
Cowah, the noisy little lamb that likes to follow you around the farm.
What's something surprising about you?
I have a Bachelor of Wildlife Science degree and hope to work in the conservation of wildlife.
Is there anything else you'd like FAR supporters to know about you?
I have three goats of my own, one of which is named Fudge that I have raised since he was 5 days old (he is my baby).
