Animal Care Assistant Volunteer

We are seeking animal care assistants working alongside our live-in animal care team. Shifts are for a half day and you can volunteer weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

The role involves:

  • Barn and habitat cleaning
  • Managing animal feeds
  • Animal health assessments
  • Keeping health and operational records       
  • Preparation and administration of medications
  • Barn preparation
  • Resident barning and head counts

Pre-requisites:

–          Full training will be given

–          Must be cautiously confident around large animals

–          Must be able to commit for a minimum of six months

–          Must commit to volunteer either weekly, fortnightly or monthly

Desired:

–          Follows a vegan lifestyle

–          Large animal experience a plus but not essential

Winter shifts are 6.30am to 11.45am or 11.45am to 5pm

Summer shifts are 4.45am to 10am or 1.30pm to 6.45pm

All training is provided by our resident sanctuary staff. Volunteers are required to sign a safety waiver and follow all safety and biosecurity instructions.
